POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director, Tech Ops, reporting to the General Manager, will play a key role in the overall planning, budgeting and technical operations and continued success of TGI’s LED, Parallel Ads® (PADS) and Virtual Advertising across North America.

The successful candidate will manage the ops budgeting, preparation/planning, staffing of our technical operations, incl. managing the maintenance and repairs process to ensure that all technical hardware and accompanying components are available and ready for each live event.  TGI’s Tech Ops team will support the Director, Technical Ops to prepare  the technical hardware in the warehouse and set-up and deliver our events onsite.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a technical leader for TGI in North America for LED, Parallel Ads® and virtual technology

Closely monitor and manage the technical hardware inventory in the US using the company’s chosen inventory management platform

Responsible for overseeing, servicing, maintaining, testing and preparing technical hardware including all accompanying components

Ensure the correct hardware (including additional components) is deployed from the technical hub to the respective venues

Responsible for in depth understanding of TGI’s technical power requirements and software capabilities, in regards of TGI’s rental and fixed assets

Must be able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders

Ensure TGI’s SOP’s are being followed, are up to date and evolve as required as new technologies come to light

Recruit, train and support onsite technical staff to increase TGI’s pool of highly trained external technical staff so the company can scale up quickly to service large-scale events in the US

Manage technical staff bookings and performance and propose decisive action where needed

Verify technical specifications provided from each of the venues

Source and secure cost projections for technical equipment and rentals as necessary

Provide onsite operations support and conduct site surveys as needed in the US and document each venue using the TGI Venue Report tool to maintain a clear and accurate overview for the project team

Review and verify internal reporting documentation and work with Head of Digital Production to compile all necessary technical presentation and documentation

Other requirements may be identified at a later stage

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience in Technical Operations for large-scale events in the Sports and Entertainment Industry, ideally with LED Perimeter Signage (A positive if the experience is in a new subsidiary or a rapid-growth environment)

Deep knowledge of electrical systems, specifically 208v and similar entertainment event power.

Nice to have an understanding of broadcast operations relating to on-site sports production

Experience in CAD or similar software

An exemplary attention to detail as well as superior organizational skills

Experience with LED and/or virtual advertising products. Prior experience with NovaStar would be beneficial.

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Strong analytical / problem solving skills

Well-developed presentation skills for large groups of technical staff

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (or Keynote)

Experience with Oracle NetSuite is a positive

Excellent communication skills

Able to travel 50% of the time, occasionally on short notice (24h)

Must be fluent in both spoken and written English.  Knowledge of Spanish will be an advantage
